The Ragbirds are a five-piece Michigan band with an irresistible global groove. The ’Birds are led by fiery frontwoman and songwriter Erin Zindle, who switches among violin, mandolin, banjo, accordion, and percussion, in addition to singing lead vocals (all while dancing up a storm). Their musical roots are firmly embedded in the soils of rhythm ancient and new, incorporating Americana, Gypsy, Celtic, and Latin influences on top of drum sounds from all over the world. The rich rhythmic layers of the Ragbirds’ music mix African polyrhythms, Afro-Cuban tumbao, and rock, hip-hop, and reggae-style drumkits -- all designed to get people listening and to get their creative juices flowing! The ’Birds, who tour in a van that burns recycled vegetable oil, recently released a new album, "Finally Almost Ready," and saw it climb to the number-two spot on Japanese charts. They’ve been tearing up stages all over the Midwest, and they seem to be leaping to the next level. Dexter, Michigan singer-songwriter Abigail Stauffer opens the show.
