Austin-to-Brooklyn transplant Carrie Rodriguez is a woman of many talents. She’s "a fiddler with contest-killing chops" (St. Louis Riverfront Times), "a feminine, sexy voice that commands attention" (TapRoot Radio), and, as voted by the Roots Music Association, Songwriter of the Year for 2008. Carrie’s songs come down somewhere between the scorching intimacy of Lucinda Williams and the catchy progressive country of Rosanne Cash, and she backs them up with incredible fiddling and, lately, the less often heard mando-guitar. Carrie toured with John Prine last summer, and she comes to town with a new release, "She Ain’t Me." The new album has an introspective tone that, Rodriguez says, "comes from having to really look within yourself when you’re forced to be alone, and to not be afraid of that process."
