In May 2009, Kayla (19-years old) was a college student when she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma (Bone Cancer). She is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatment at Hackensack University Medical Center (Tomorrow’s Children) before surgery on her right arm. She will need additional chemotherapy/radiation and extensive physical therapy following her surgery.
Kayla is the daughter of Rosaleen (nee O’Connell - St. Barnabas HS - Class of ’88) and Brendan Burke (Local 608 and Native of Co. Meath).
To defray some of the medical expenses, there will be a benefit at Rory Dolan’s Restaurant on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2 PM. Donations are tax deductible (Tax I.D 80-0449139)
