10/24/2009 11:00 AM at Andrew King [guest] @ Croydon Canal Bi-centennial celebrations
Sydenham Hill Station, London, London and South East SE21 7ND
Cost: na
Rather an unusual one this, a walk to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the foundation of the Croydon Canal. Starting at 11.00am at Sydenham Hill station following the route of the old canal as nearly as possible, stopping at the surviving remnant in Dacres Wood, before moving on to the Dartmouth Arms pub beside Forest Hill station. The walk is a little over a mile and should take about an hour to an hour and a quarter as various local experts will be talking about the Canal. I will be contributing a few late 18th early 19th century vernacular songs to the proceedings, either on the walk, or as an (unaccompanied) set at the end.
