A number of years ago, several Charlottesville First United Methodist church members (probably loaded up on Lindt chocolate) spun visions of an event that would offer chocolate goodies of every kind. After the chocolate-induced daydreaming ended, they realized that an event that featured this food so desperately craved and cherished by so many people might also offer an opportunity for First United Methodist to become a more visible presence in the community. They also saw in it a way to educate the community about our church missions and outreach. "Maybe," we thought, "just maybe, we could use a festival to earn money for our mission work and let people know what we are all about at the same time."
