"Our aim here is to add some of the thrill of a traditional WEDDING PARTY to our folk throwdown. (don’t skip this party because you’ve mistaken us for right wing, defense-of-marriage types, that ain’t what it’s about.) Blind Tiger String Band will warm us up with some sweet southern pre-wedding reception songs. Then we’ll have a reading by our MC Katie Herzog. This is in the tradition of the Badkhn, a sort of wedding MC who tries to terrify the bride and groom with tales of how horrible married life is. And finally Gmish Klezmer Band will assist all in post ceremonial jubilation. Trained dancers will show us the way to move it. And i hear it’s also traditional to stuff the instruments with cash tips, so bring a couple ones, just in case you’re really feeling it."
