Get carried away by the sweeping melodies and emotional power of the great Romantics. Heralded by the Los Angeles Times for the “glorious glitter and careful classical phrasing” of his Beethoven interpretation, Jeffrey Kahane conducts the pivotal Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor from the keyboard just as the composer himself did at its first public performance in 1803. Also an accomplished pianist, French composer George Bizet wrote his effervescent Symphony No. 1 in C major at age 17, although the work was not heard until 1935, 80 years later. By contrast, American composer George Tsontakis looks forward to being in the audience with us when his LACO commission is premiered. Be there!
