Electronic music duo Plaid (AndyTurner and Ed Handley) are an established favourite in Warp Record’s roster, and their long-awaited new album Scintilli is due out later this year. For this year’s festival they present a gig with Javanese musician and Southbank Centre Artist in Residence Ruhayu Supanggah and the Southbank Gamelan Players. Developed from cross-continental file-swapping, this unique collaboration is the culmination of a process of musical exchange and experimentation. Support comes from composer, pianist and a self-taught studio wizard Jon Hopkins. Having worked with musicians as diverse as David Holmes, Herbie Hancock and Brian Eno in the past, his new album Insides is released on Domino. Post-show concert: See Dan Hayhurst and Reuben Sutherland’s sculpture project in The Front Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall. Admission free.
