FIELD OF STARS FIRST ANNIVERSARY SHOW! featuring KAREN COLLINS, THIRSTY DAVE, FAUSTO BOZZA, and your host LI’L MO Country singer and coal miner’s daughter, KAREN COLLINS writes exceptional songs that she delivers in a traditional style-Hazel Dickens meets Loretta Lynn. Who says they don’t make ’em like they used to! Karen stays busy writing songs and playing with her honky tonk band, The Backroads Band, her Cajun/Zydeco band, Squeeze Bayou, the acoustic country quartet, The Blue Moon Cowgirls in addition to doing solo shows. "I wasn’t really a fan of country music back then, but it was all around, and I soaked it up." As a member of the Young Adults (described by some as "legendary,") Dave once played drums with Bo Diddley at a prison concert. After going all over the musical map (except Hip-Hop and Classical) Dave has fronted Western Caravan, an 8-piece Western Swing Orchestra serving up classic Country, Western Swing and Honky-Tonk standards as well as their own engaging originals to New York’s connoisseurs and homesick Texans, since 1996. http://westerncaravan.com/ Manhattan native FAUSTO BOZZA made his stage debut at the age of two in a performance of Madame Butterfly (his parents were professional opera singers.) He has since developed his own wide-ranging style of musicianship. Fausto’s solo material is inspired by a variety of sources – including Blind Blake, Irving Berlin, Leo Kottke, and Hank Williams - and his own compositions are performed in his own distinctive style. In addition to performing solo, Fausto plays in a duet and trio format and is the leader and frontman of Groovalaya, a NYC-based swing and roots music band. He also plays guitar and sings in Swingadelic, a New Jersey based big band. Fausto doubles on the mandolin and tiple. He will be accompanying Thirsty Dave in this program, as well as playing some of his own tunes. http://swingadelic.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/listennyplay/all/uploads-all/0/khZIj1a_LhU
