The Orion Music Festival in Park City is an International Independent Music Festival established to provide an international stage where independent recording artists and songwriters will connect with important contacts in the professional music industry as well as gain visibility among potential fans. It is a venue wherein singer/songwriters and bands can receive exposure to music industry executives/A&R representatives from around the world. Also to give artists an opportunity to network with each other and with industry professionals who can provide marketing/public relations/publicity/promotion tools and services and discounts on musical instruments and equipment. Points of Interest: 1) The Festival will take place in various clubs and performance venues in Park City and extending into Salt Lake City from Thursday, January 14th-Wednesday, January 20th, 2010. 200 upper-echelon/cutting edge recording artists, specifically singer/songwriters, from 12 different genres, as well as music industry executives/representatives, from at least 12 countries, will be chosen and contracted to travel to Park City/Salt Lake City, Utah for the festival. 2) Singer/songwriters will play in various clubs with will provide a venue wherein artists will be exposed to independent and major labels, booking agents, digital and retail distribution companies, and artist management from around the world. 3) Participating clubs, restaurants, and coffee houses will provide a daily: networking opportunities with other artists/bands. 4) Music videos from each participating recording artist will be featured on a daily rotation in a local theater and receive airplay on local TV. 5) Discounted hotel rates, menus at participating restaurants, travel, and skiing will be offered to all artists and ski passes will be offered to all music industry professionals. 6) A Music Industry trade show will take place during the festival. Each vendor at the show will own a booth and will include: instrument and musical equipment manufacturers, companies who offer marketing and promotional services/tools that benefit artists, entertainment lawyers, independent agents, and independent talent managers. Independent/Major recording labels/other industry professionals will also attend. Artists can also network amongst themselves. 7) Final awards ceremony wherein all artists will receive recognition. Artists who were signed to record labels (during the festival) and/or received distribution deals will perform. Also one artist from each genre, chosen by peers within his/her genre, will perform.
