Down a long gravel road in a Mississippi Delta cotton field in Bolivar County, west of the town of Merigold off of Highway 61 sits Po’ Monkey’s Lounge. Probably built around 1915 or so, this one-room sharecropper shack, called Po’ Monkey’s lounge was transformed into a juke joint in the 1950s and is considered to be one of the last original juke joints in the South.
Blue Mother Tupelo will be performing live for Deer & Beer, a Pi Kappa Alpha Founders Day Party at Po’ Monkey’s Lounge.
Directions- Turn north on Crosby Rd. (West of Cleveland) off of Highway 8. Turn right on 1st gravel road past the 2nd stop sign on Crosby.
