What can I say!? I recently dropped in to The Bull’s Head in Barnes after a long absence, and Charlie Flemming (the landlord’s son and now managing) rushed up to me and asked where the hell I’ve been and insisted I came back to play on a Friday night soon, to ’put some life back in the place’.
It’s a great honour, as this is a landmark venue on the Jazz scene and is celebrating 50 years of live music this November. What’s more, he has asked me to take on a monthly Friday residency from the new year. Now open Fridays until midnight, I have one of London’s most famous stages at my disposal. Yikes!!
Remember the good old days? Every show I ever played at the Bull was a huge event and very glamorously attended. Let’s party!
The Music Room has been refurbished, soundproofed and air conditioned. In keeping with tradition it will be seated, but I always used to take out most of the rows to ensure a more relaxed and mingle-friendly atmosphere. Oh yeah, and to make dance space available!
The fist show is on Friday the 9th of October, 8.30 till Midnight, and I shall be sharing the evening with Dom aka Skej, a fine singer songwriter from Barnes. Performing with me will be Chris Fletcher on Percussion (Chris Rea/Christians/Marc Almond/Stretch), with whom I have been playing with a lot recently - and it rocks!
So, if you’re around and local (or not travel shy) why not come and spend the evening with us, and enjoy the pub’s new look and gardens? It would be great to see you all again!!
RSVP’s will guarantee tickets/entrance, up to the first 50. Please arrive on time to pick those up as we’ll only hold the door till about 9pm. (Late arrivals on arrangement.)
