Mountain Lakes – On Friday, November 6, 2009, The Mental Health Association of Morris County will hold its Gala to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mental Health America at the Hyatt Morristown at Headquarters Plaza. *******
Danny Nova, a world-class Carnegie Hall headliner, and recipient of numerous awards, will be performing at the event with his a dynamic back-up band. Nova, who is an adult contemporary singer/songwriter, known for his work with charitable organizations, will be a real treat for Gala guests. “I love performing for charities; my goal is to perform at only charitable events because it gives me immediate gratification. It’s my way of making a difference”, says Nova. *******
The MC for the evening will be Linda Schmidt who is a reporter at Fox 5 News and has been reporting news for over 15 years. Her hard-hitting investigative and consumer-related reports have garnered twenty Emmy nominations and six Emmy Awards. Schmidt’s work has also been recognized with awards from the Associated Press, the New York State Broadcasters Association, The New York Press Club and the Newswomen’s Club of New York. *******
Schmidt has covered the country’s biggest stories, including the World Trade Center attacks, the crash of TWA Flight 800, the Susan Smith case, the deaths of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and John F. Kennedy Jr., and the 9/11 Commission hearings. In addition, Schmidt has reported exclusive stories including unprecedented access to the Newark, New Jersey Police Department’s SWAT Team and frequent exclusives with the NYPD. She has also traveled around the world covering news for Fox 5 in Israel, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Europe.
All proceeds from the event support the Mental Health Association of Morris County which provides information and referral, case management, homeless outreach, supportive housing, disaster response, community education and support services for people and their families who are coping with mental illnesses. *******
