On August 7, Bruce Hornsby made his long-anticipated instrumental jazz debut on Legacy Records with “Camp Meeting,” featuring a trio of all-stars: bassist Christian McBride and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Hot on the heels of last year’s five-disc career retrospective and this year’s acclaimed bluegrass collaboration with Ricky Skaggs, the grammy-winning musician revisits his jazz roots with an 11-song collection of originals and re-envisioned tunes by Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell.
