Good people in good bands bring you the ‘good fest’ to banish all the negativity of 2009 (job loses/break ups/deaths/fall outs/war etc) and cement goodness for all in 2010! Hurrah!
Smallgang (best band in london)
Smallgang
North London art rockers have just finished their debut album ‘Labours’. The band are made up of half Japanese rock siblings Simon and Toshi, and married rhythm section Ruth and Matt. As you would expect from such close relationships, the band are tight and seem like almost one hive-minded on stage . They mine a smooth baritone voiced Smog-meets-Dinosaur Jr via the Go-Betweens distorto-pop sound and are set to break into your hearts this year and steal important bits.
"Smallgang have pop sensibilities with a forlorn twist. If you’re a regular All Tomorrows Parties punter then this slice of melancholy pop is for you" Artrocker
“... odd mash up of Pavement, Kings Of Leon and Smog esque vocals. Sounds crazy but it does work.” Norman Records

Mordros
North London’s Sonic Youth-meets-Swirlies via Robert Wyatt. Ultra arty, no-waver, postslacker, Anglo/Swede boy-girl-boy-girl four piece. Beautiful music made by members of XFM/Radio One favorites Fantaplastic.

Crumbling Ghost
Riff monster uber rock-Damo suzuki’s loudest backing band!
Each member (even the drummer) uses at least one wha pedal! In this unholy dirge of metal meets progfolkpostdoom!
At one gig, the entire audience left the venue and listened from outside! So powerful was the volume!

Muddy Suzuki
"Flitting between blissed-out ambience and frenetic psych pop freak-outs... the visceral clatter of ‘D-Punk’ sounds as riotous as a teary Television riding several Scud missiles into a cymbal factory..." - BEARDED MAGAZINE

Platform
Darkly cool experimental electronic music from 2 great drummers and their laptops.

Simon and Alex
Men of mystery doing magic tricks set slowed pop classics. Odd to say the least.
Former Utopia
"Radio 6/Resonance FM featured East London born, X-Lazarus Clamp bassist is a genre defying intelligent edgy song smith that producing the kind of mortally sad, black humoured alt. folk that reminiscent of Lambchop, Mountain Goats and on occasion Shellac." Silver Rocket
"a gentleman blessed with an imposing baritone halfway between Bill Callahan and Absentee." The Line of Best Fit
