What began as learning some Rolling Stones riffs from his cousin has now evolved into a relentlessly unique and inventive performance style for Steve Kimock. Continually exploring the limits of the guitar’s sonic capabilities, Kimock intertwines psychedelic hooks with unparalled musicianship to create an ever-evolving soundscape. Citing naivete as his reason for never finding the path towards a rock and roll fortune, Kimock instead seems to have always been lured by his curiosity and the need to fulfill a variety of original musical concepts. Kimock join Keith and Donna Godchaux of the Grateful Dead in the Heart of Gold Band, followed by the inception of his own band, Zero, cofounded in 1984 with drummer Greg Anton. As impressive as the work of his own groups are Kimock’s collaborations, which include Jerry Garcia, the Other Ones, the Allman Brothers Band, and Trey Anastasio of Phish. Kimock launched his new band, Steve Kimock Crazy Engine, in 2009. The band features Melvin Seals on B-3 organ and Kimock’s son John Morgan Kimock on drums. Also in the band are Janis Wallin (bass), Cheryl Rucker (vocals) and Shirley Starks (vocals). Tickets on sale http://tinyurl.com/y9wjrow
