MOVED FROM THOMAS WOLFE AUDITORIUM TO ASHEVILLE CIVIC CENTER! Known for rowdy, energetic live shows and raw, honest lyrics, The Avett Brothers have amassed an impressive following by busting banjo and guitar strings on stage across the states. These North Carolina natives’ blend of folk, country, bluegrass, rock, and pop occasionally hints at the brothers’ punk roots. The Avett Brothers formed in 2001 when banjoist Scott Avett and guitarist Seth Avett joined forces with standup bass player Bob Crawford. At the time, the brothers fronted a neo-punk band called Nemo. Although they enjoyed blowing it out on electric instruments, they eventually began feeling the tug of the acoustic music they’d heard growing up. Eight years and twelve albums later, The Avett Brothers’ most recent project I and Love and You is rocketing their popularity from a band with a cult following to a household name. Make plans now to catch their raw and rocking folk-fusion live at the Asheville Civic Center, Thursday, December 30. Tickets on sale October 9:ticketmaster.com
