Hill Country Happenings Magazine February 2007 by "Big G" Gordon Ames Ashlee Rose “Iron Roses” TEG Records She’s 17. She’s blonde. She’s from TEXAS. Most importantly – she rocks. Bringing a maturity far beyond her years to the scene, with a gentle guiding hand from Mom and Dad, Ashlee Rose has exploded on the scene with her 2nd CD. Producer/Sideman Chris Lieck has put together top-notch players and delivered a fresh new sound to what has become a rather stale rock and roll scene. Elijah Zane on guitars and vocals, Lieck on guitar, bass, drums, and keys, Derek Easterling on bass, and Adrian Garza, Zach Adamson and Lieck again on drums, with Shelley Lares contributing on vocals deliver a sound reminiscent of the days when rock was truly that. I conjured up visions of Chrissy Hind, Sheryl Crow, Patty Griffin, even The Wallflowers when I first heard this CD. “Save My Soul” is a trip to the past when guitarists played guitar, and the vocals are strong. This rocker has great potential to exploit the charts. Paying homage to Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks”, “Devil’s Town” is a very solid tune that will see much play at Rev FM I suspect. The ballad “Lost In Your Arms” will surely cock eyebrows in the rock world, and “Just Because I Let You Down” has a great hook and tight harmonies. The end of this disc has a great little number – “Live It Up”, perhaps deserving rock anthem status one day. Consider good solid rock music and an amalgamation of the great female rock vocalists, and you have the recipe for “Iron Roses”. This young lady is a force to be reckoned with now and in the future. In a phrase “a dynamic vocal presence”. “Big G” Gordon Ames February 2007
