A new commission from The Bluecoat and PRS: Ian McMillan and Luke Carver Goss celebrate the centenary of Liverpool-born writer Malcolm Lowry with a piece for Sense of Sound choir, accordion and performing poet. (Ian McMillan)
In this participatory choral and spoken word promenade performance, poet Ian McMillan and composer Luke Carver Goss imagine the 100-year-old Lowry revisiting Liverpool, “that terrible city whose main street is the ocean”. Performed with Sense of Sound choir, this commission from the Bluecoat makes links between three strands of Lowry’s life: the sea, writing and drink, drawing on his incandescent prose and the fishermen’s hymns and jazz that inspired him.
