Songwriter and singer with legendary bluegrass/americana act the Southern Tenent Folk Union, Oliver Talkes brings his solo project to The Glad. Double bass, fiddle, acoustic guitar and banjo (from Glad regular Adam Beattie) back up his beautifully introspective songs. Townes Van Zandt, Jackson C Frank and Bert Jansch are all reflected in a pure folk style, a perfect Sunday evening. Support comes from Loose Records’ Josh Bray (home to the Hansome Family, the Felice Brothers and Neko Case, amongst others). Intricate acoustic songs that reference similar musical themes to Ray La Montagne, Nick Drake and John Martyn, Bray is a gifted songwriter and fine musician, blessed with a voice that can more than match his influences. Get down early to catch both acts, and to make sure you get a seat, you won’t be disappointed... Music begins at eight, food served all evening, bar open til ten thirty.
