Alyth is performing with The Island Tapes www.theislandtapes.com at day celebrating St Kilda. The Island Tapes provide the musical score with guitarists Dave Allison, Allan Neave and Ian Melrose to short silent black n white films recorded in the Scottish Islands in the 1920’s n 30’s. Islands featured are Harris, Skye, Orkney, Shetland and St Kilda, and we have added a new film following the journey of a passenger ship in 1921 from Glasgow to New York. The show deals with the topics of migration and home, identity and language in both a moving and gentle way, with a bit of humour too, fine singing and great music.
