The Historic Cain’s Ballroom will host the 5th Annual Cancer Sucks Concert on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. All proceeds from this event will benefit research for brain tumors in memory of local radio personality Jan Dean who lost her battle with cancer in 2007. Everyone in attendance will receive a $10.00 off coupon from Guitar Center just for attending the show. Attendees will also have a chance to win autographed music memorabilia via auction and seats to see KISS at the BOK Center in December. Cancer Sucks has donated over $250,000.00 to research through fundraising efforts and hopes that this will be a huge success as the other concert events have been. Interested individuals or businesses that would like to support the cause but are unable to attend the concert can purchase a ticket and donate it back! Donated tickets will be used for give away items on radio stations allowing us to bring people in the door to support this worthy cause. Tickets can be purchased in advance from any of the bands that are participating in the concert or at The Cains Box Office. Tickets are also available on line at CancerSucks.com. Cancer Sucks will be making several check presentations during the concert from money raised at other Cancer Sucks Events in 2009.
The facility and staff have been donated to Cancer Sucks for this benefit as well as 10 local and regional bands which have all donated their time and talents.

Cancer Sucks is 501 (c) 3 non profit organization with no paid employees. All overhead expenses are covered by corporate sponsors who allow us to donate every penny raised at our events to cancer research. Everyone has been touched by cancer and our events serve as a great form of therapy whether you are a volunteer or participant. We are currently putting the finishing touches on our last event for the year and we can always use more volunteers, advertising, donations and Corporate Partners for our events. Cancer Sucks was founded in 1998 out of the pain and frustration that comes from losing a loved one to cancer, combined with the desire to do what we can to prevent anyone from experiencing the same loss. The "Charity with Attitude," has a simple mission statement to guide them. "Provide a forum for those who have lost loved ones to cancer while aggressively raising money to find a cure. No one should have to go through what millions of cancer victims, survivors and those left behind have endured." Cancer Sucks is a non profit organization dedicated to the loving memory of Donna Holland White who donated her body to cancer research at the time of her passing.
