The third annual Congo Square Rhythms Festival will take place at The Louis Armstrong Park on Nov 15. This festival celebrates the historic role of Congo Square as the birthplace of American music. It was there that African slaves gathered on Sunday afternoons to practice their ancestral traditions - influencing all of the styles that would emerge from New Orleans’ cultural melting pot. With performances of authentic African drumming and dance plus food, arts and crafts, it’s a fun event for the whole family.
