11/15/2009 6:00 PM at IDGAFF with Zeptepi, Marianna and Co. and C.C. Thornley
160 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford, Victoria
Cost: $5
From the melancholy meanderings about wrestling with love and life alt-country style, of T.K Bollinger to the gypsy punk folk of Zeptepi, this line up has a little something for everyone who likes their blues with an edge. C.C Thornley, maverick banjo player of the Black Swans of Trespass plays his own songs of Australian blues/folk, with tales of shipwrecks, convicts and love gone wrong, and a dose of traditional blues, jazz and even a little rock! Marianna and Co. is a new outfit put together by Marianna Doherty, with a modern jazz bent, angelic harmonies and mellow back-up, putting a new spin on jazz standards and her own original songs. T.K Bollinger has been described as listening to an old 78 vinyl without the crackle, as he pulls heartbreak out of the beige stetson. Zeptepi I like to describe as punk folk although this hardly seems to cover their versatile sound or the fact they are simply a damn good band. (Tonight will see lead Phil playing acoustic with maybe, probably Hayley on violin.) So, come on down to Collingwood, try one of Jojo’s superb Bloody Marys and support some musicians who need it. All money from the door is divided between the muso’s. They will not be paid by the venue, so it’s up to YOU to come and bring along some friends, to ensure these lovely people can buy a refreshing beverage and get home! Show and share the love! And be nice to your doorbitch.. x Kat 6pm-T.K Bollinger 7pm-Zeptepi 8pm-Marianna and Co. 9pm-C.C Thornley
