Discover is a unique story centre based in Stratford E15, for children and families all over East London and beyond. Although we get an average of around 4,000 visitors a month – 61,000 in the last year alone – we don’t get any core support from any source, so have to rely on fundraising to raise about half or our needs to keep the doors open and the centre running. We’re also wanting to start doing more adult events in the evenings, and so the idea of a Goth Ghost Story Telling Evening seemed to hit two targets at the same time….grown ups having a good gory Gothic Ghostly night at the same time as raising a bit of money for Discover’s Children’s Forum.
So I’ve invited you all to take part and tell as blood-curdling a tale of ghosts, ghouls and all things that would take your soul and steal your sanity in the night.
Agreed so far is Niall O’Sullivan, who has agreed to host the event, and hopefully also tell an Irish ghost story or two on the night, plus Sarah Reilly (with her ultra creepy ‘The Meal’), Dzifa Benson with freshly penned tales of the crypt, Nick Field going ultra-Goth on us + feather boas all round, Rhian Edwards with a howling of new ghost stories, and myself performing my Dracula piece hopefully in full frock. Plus some of Discover’s Story Builders telling ghostly Pirate stories and generally howling at the Caribbean moon. I’m also hoping that Chip Hamer will join us with some of his extra ‘nasty’ stuff from BrosGrim.
And there will be a small prize for the best dressed ghost, so all attendees have the chance to really Hammer it up!!
